Introduction of department
Our department is in charge of diagnosing and treating acute and chronic respiratory diseases such as lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, pulmonary embolism, and interstitial lung disease Symptoms such as difficulty breathing, coughing, phlegm, and hemoptysis, or abnormal chest radiographic findings found at the examination, require treatment from the department of respiratory medicine.
- - Chest tumor diseases such as lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, etc

Tests that minimize impact on patients
- Ultrasound bronchoscopy
For the first time in Daegu and Gyeongbuk region, ultrasound bronchoscopy has been introduced and operated at our department. Bronchoscopy enables us to confirm whether there is metastasis of lung cancer to lymph nodes around the bronchial tubes without getting patients general anesthesia. Doppler ultrasonography can distinguish blood vessels and even detects small lymph nodes of about 1cm size. It also can be used to diagnose benign diseases such as sarcoidosis and lymphadenitis in addition to cancer.
