The event was held on March 20 at COEX in Seoul. Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital was recognized for its contributions to the globalization of the Korean healthcare education system through joint research, medical training programs with five Central Asian countries, and the dissemination of structured curricula. The hospital was also acknowledged for its efforts in attracting international patients and promoting the excellence of Korean healthcare through the operation of a telemedicine center. To expand Korea’s medical presence in Central Asian countries with limited healthcare exchanges, such as Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the hospital actively pursued medical cooperation by organizing the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum and participating in official delegations during state visits to the region. In particular, KNUCH demonstrated humanitarian values and strengthened healthcare cooperation with Uzbekistan by conducting international medical volunteer activities for people with disabilities and underserved populations in Samarkand and Bukhara—regions with inadequate medical services. President Kim Jong Gwang stated, “We are honored to play a significant role in promoting Korea’s outstanding medical capabilities. Moving forward, we will continue striving to become a world-class hospital with top-tier medical professionals and cutting-edge technology.” Previously, KNUCH also contributed to the establishment of a Korean-style rehabilitation medicine curriculum and the development of a health insurance system in Kazakhstan, playing a key role in expanding Korea’s healthcare and education systems into Central Asia and the CIS region. |
